President Obama said that Beau Biden had a "mighty heart" and "broad shoulders"
During Joseph “Beau” Biden III’s funeral on Saturday, President Obama told the crowd of mourners that Beau Biden was someone who had a “mighty heart” and “broad shoulders.”
The president said, “So Beau squared his broad shoulders to protect people from that kind of abuse. He fought for homeowners who were cheated, seniors who were scammed. He even went after bullying itself…Beau Biden brought to his work a mighty heart.”
President Obama stated that Biden’s passion for others and willingness to lend a helping hand grew out of the tragic accident that resulted in the passing of Biden’s mother and young sister.
The president told the crowd of mourners that despite Beau Biden’s young age during that tragic time, he could tell that something was amidst and that there was a void within his father.
And instead of using the pain that he and his family went through as reason to become distant, heartless, and cold, Beau Biden took that tragic day and the pain it caused and used it in order to help others who were in need.
President Obama said, “And so, rather than use his childhood trauma as justification for a life of meaning. He would live a life for others. He would ask God for broader shoulders.”
Beau Biden passed away on May 30, 2015, after succumbing to brain cancer. He leaves behind a wife (Hallie Biden), two young children (Natalie and Hunter), his parents (Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden), a brother (Hunter Biden), and a sister (Ashley Biden).
